He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Psalm 115:13-14 (KJV)
A Personal Testimony of Blessing
The words from Psalm 115 were specifically gifted to my husband and I while we were serving in Honduras as EFM missionaries from 1998 to 2002. These words were sealed upon our hearts during a time of despair and loneliness, reminding us of God’s great faithfulness, plan, and purpose for us and our family. Over the last several decades, we have witnessed the fulfillment of this promise as our children have grown into mature, responsible adults—men and women of integrity, walking in truth and righteousness.
Currently, we are witnessing our grandchildren as they seek a personal relationship with God and embrace their own life of faith and love for the Savior. We rejoice as some have been baptized and are following in the footsteps of their spiritual heritage. This year, if the Lord wills, our first great grandchild will be welcomed into our hearts and home, and we pray she too will be nurtured in the way of God and enjoy the generational blessing of God’s love and redemption for herself. Seeing our children and grandchildren walk in the light of God’s presence is a profound and unmatched joy that is beyond comparison!

The Assurance of God’s Promise
The promise of Generational Blessing from Psalm 115:14 declares, “The LORD shall increase you” These words from Scripture offer the unwavering assurance of God’s never-failing presence and character; He shall do it! Additional Scripture reinforces the faithfulness of God’s character by saying “there hath not failed one word of all his good promise” 1 Kings 8:56 (KJV).
The Abundance of God’s Blessing
The promise of Generational Blessing from Psalm 115:14 also declares the promise of a continual feast of abundance with the words “more and more.” Because of God’s divine favor and promise, we have experienced:
- More faith and more peace, providing more rest physically and spiritually on weary days
- More joy and more contentment, resulting in greater satisfaction and fulfillment
- More wisdom and more discernment, offering us a deeper understanding
- More love and more compassion, resulting in greater sensitivity to the needs of others
- More strength, more favor, and more honor to the glory of God
- More influence and more prosperity with additional resources to further God’s Kingdom work
The Awareness of God’s Plan
The promise of Generational Blessing from Psalm 115:14 further declares the promise of “you and your children” as a blessing of God’s plan and purpose for us, our children, and our families for ages to come. It extends beyond today to future generations, focusing on a family legacy of spiritual inheritance and blessing for those who love Him.
Encouragement for Generations of Women
Mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers, when days are long and dreary, when your strength has almost failed, when you long for refreshment and answers to your prayers, allow the faithfulness of God’s promise for Generational Blessing to encourage and strengthen you as you pray and trust God for the future!
God is able! God is trustworthy! God promises to bless you and your families!
Happy Mother’s Day!
