Paul tells us in Romans 5:8 that “God commended (proved) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We can never fully comprehend the nature of a love so vast and immense. That He would be willing to humble Himself enough to leave the glories of heaven, come to earth as a man, and die for us “while we were yet sinners” is beyond our understanding.

Charles Wesley penned these beautiful words as an invitation to God to fill us with this love.
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of Heav’n to earth come down;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.
God is Love. That is the entirety of the gospel message; the marvelous, good news that the whole world needs to know. If God could love us when we were yet living in sin, our lives in full opposition to Him, how can we not share His love with despairing, lost humanity, helpless to absolve the burden of their guilt. God’s love gives them the hope of salvation. There is nothing more important. Let us follow His great example!
